4 Indoor Kids Birthday Party Games Ideas

Burglar Alarm

This is played like hunt the thimble but instead of using a thimble, uses a little alarm clock or timer. Everyone but one person goes out of the room. The one guest remaining has to hide the clock somewhere in the room. The other kids then have to come back in to try to find the clock before it goes off!
The child, who finds it, wins a small prize and they then get a turn to hide the clock for the others the find. For a spooky version of this game to play at Halloween, give each child a torch or flashlight then turn the room lights off once the clock has been hidden. Then they have to find the clock by torchlight!

M&M Straws

Each guest has a straw and a plastic cup. You’ll also need a couple of bags of M&Ms or similar sweets in a large bowl. Each party guest takes it in turns to use their straw to transfer as many M&Ms from the bowl into their own cup, within a set amount of time. They just have to suck in the air through the straw and suction the sweets to get them into the cup, but do it as quickly as possible and without dropping them on the way to the cup!

Scary Hide and Seek

Another good idea for a Halloween kids party game, because anything in the dark is spookier! Play just like hide and seek, the person seeking must go out of the room and count. The other kids hide in the room, and then you turn the lights out. And the seeker has to come in and find everyone, the last one to be found wins and the first person found is the next to be the seeker. Just make sure you have previously cleared out the room of any fragile items, ornaments and other possible obstacles. This is also a good sleepover party games idea.

Pass the Parcel

Everyone knows how to play pass the parcel. But for a twist to the classic version, try including forfeits between the wrapped layers, not just little prizes. Write out the forfeits such as ‘stand in the center and sing a nursery rhyme’ or ‘hop on one foot for a minute’ on bright pieces of thick paper or card so that they don’t get ripped up as they unwrap each layer. This twist gives this traditional childrens party games idea a bit more excitement, with the element of unpredictability. As, at every layer the kids won’t know if they will win a prize or have to do a forfeit!
